The claim might be right. It might be half right — one solid fact wearing three conclusions nobody actually tested. The trouble is that all three end up sounding identical once they've been repeated enough times.
"Conventional" and "tested" are not the same word. Some conclusions are secure because they survived direct examination — a scan, a dated sample, an excavation compared against a text. Precision hides its assumptions well. A measurement is real evidence. The story built around it is a separate claim, and it can be far weaker than the number that supposedly proves it.
Corroborating a setting isn't corroborating the story. If an excavated layout matches an odd architectural detail in an ancient text, that's genuine support — for the setting. It says nothing about the events the text goes on to describe.

When uncertainty gets treated as a failure, something always rushes in to complete the record — either an institution waves an inconvenient anomaly away, or a promoter treats that same anomaly as proof of whatever story is more exciting.
